Houston Toyota dealers have inventory despite announced production cuts of 50,000 vehicles in the month of July.  In a statement, reported in Reuters and other media outlets on Tuesday June 21, Toyota announced that it will lower expected production goals due to continuing semiconductor shortages and strains on the supply chain caused by Covid 19 disruptions hampering the world’s largest auto manufacturer.

According to the recently published Reuters article, the company still plans on manufacturing 800,00 vehicles in July for distribution worldwide.  A spokesperson for Toyota is quoted as saying it continues to be difficult forecasting specific make and model output due to the semiconductor shortage plus the continuing spread of COVID-19 which impacts the company directly as well as the production of suppliers of components such as semiconductors. The article cited Toyota sources as hinting at the possibility of even further production plan reductions..
