Houston Toyota Dealerships Unlikely Impacted by Cyber Attack in Japan

Houston Toyota Dealerships are unlikely to be impacted by a targeted cyber attack in Japan that forced the company to shut down production on March 1st. The attack, which hit a Toyota supplier of plastic components and electronics, was described by a Toyota spokesperson as a, “supplier system failure” and comes as many Houston car buyers have experienced supply chain pressures that at times have limited the availability of certain makes, models and parts.

The cyber attack in Japan forced Toyota to suspend production in fourteen plants which account for about one third of the company’s global vehicle manufacturing. Suppliers such as Kojima Industries, which was the target of the seeming attack, have also suspended production. A spokesman for Kojima Industries confirmed that they had been the victim of an attack.

Toyota affiliates Hino Motors and Daihatsu were also impacted by the shutdown.

The company has a network of 100 Toyota dealerships throughout Texas as well as seven offices; two engineering and manufacturing facilities; and one design & research facility.

Houstonians have come to know that the popular full-sized Tundra pick-up truck and the compact Tacoma pick-ups are manufactured by 2,600 employees in the San Antonio plant.

Houston Toyota dealerships such as AutoNation Toyota, Fred Haas Toyota World, Don McGill Toyota, Toyota of Katy and Mac Haik League City continue to be committed to offering a wide selection of vehicles.

Texans will find ample inventory to choose from when shopping for a new Camry, Corolla, 4Runner, Highlander, RAV4, C-HR, Tacoma or Tundra. Plus Houston Toyota dealers pay top dollar for trade-ins and also offer extensive service departments as well as collision centers.
